Laurencekirk-based Blaze Manufacturing Solutions has appointed Chris Hudson as area sales executive.

Chris joined the team in early February and will be working with the sales and estimating team, developing new business opportunities and liaising with new and existing clients. Chris will also be responsible for contributing to the Blaze overall business development strategy which will see the company moving into new market sectors. Chris will report to Business Development Manager Steve Cox.

Chris has a background in the oil and gas sector, having worked for engineering supply companies for the past ten years in sales and business development roles. He joins Blaze from Eriks UK Ltd where he held the position of sales engineer.

Commenting on the appointment of Chris, Steve Cox said, “We are delighted to welcome Chris to the Blaze family.

“The last quarter of 2017 and the first quarter of 2018 looks to be a busy one for Blaze with new business opportunities arising in the oil and gas sector as well as new markets such as offshore and onshore renewables.

“Chris will play a fundamental role in the team, ensuring that opportunities are maximised across all markets.”

Laurencekirk-based Blaze Manufacturing Solutions has had a fantastic start to 2018 by winning the FSB Scotland’s Family Business of the Year award at today’s ceremony held in the Playfair Library, Edinburgh.

As was fitting for the category, the award was collected by brothers Jamie and Andrew Johnson, the sons of owners Howard and Ann Johnson.The FSB Scotland awards showcase the best small businesses throughout the UK and promote innovation and enterprise in small business.

Blaze was established in 2006, providing fire safety solutions to the oil and gas, renewables, mining, commercial and industrial sectors. This involves all aspects from front end definition of concepts, detailed design, supply, installation, commissioning and maintaining of active fire extinguishing systems and fire alarm systems both in the UK and internationally. Blaze employs 35 people across the North-East and has a contracting team of up to a further 30 people working across the globe.
